Ampcontrol signs 10-year renewable agreement

Ampcontrol, an Australian electrical engineering company, has taken a major step towards sustainability by signing a 10-year agreement with Flow Power to source renewable electricity.

The deal includes a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) that will offset the operating emissions from Ampcontrol’s New South Wales sites.

Under the agreement, Ampcontrol will initially source GreenPower certified electricity from the Karadoc Solar Farm in Victoria for the first 18 months. After that, the company will transition to sourcing power from a combination of wind and solar farms in New South Wales for the remaining eight and a half years.

“We want to lead the global energy revolution, and that begins within our business,” Rod Henderson, Ampcontrol’s Managing Director and CEO said.

“Through changes to our operational emissions, Ampcontrol can walk the talk in reducing our environmental impact and making more sustainable business decisions.”

The wind and solar projects are expected to deliver 100 per cent of Ampcontrol’s annual energy requirements, including large-scale generation certificates, ensuring total renewable energy coverage. This landmark deal will support the local renewable energy industry and Ampcontrol’s commitment to decarbonisation.

Sam Parris, Ampcontrol’s Sustainability Manager, highlighted the collaborative effort.

“This is a significant milestone on our net zero journey and a great example of collaborating for impact. By joining other organisations, we can invest in the renewable energy industry right here in the Hunter region,” he said.

The long-term PPA demonstrates Ampcontrol’s dedication to reducing emissions from manufacturing and leading the way in the decarbonisation of industry, starting with their own operations.

Solar panels have also been installed at the company’s workshops in Tomago, NSW, further reinforcing their sustainability efforts.
