UNI environmental education director running for supervisor


CEDAR FALLS — Kamyar Enshayan announced he is running for a position on the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors.

He will run as a Democrat in the primary election, which will be held June 4. The general election is Nov. 5.

He has lived in the county for more than 30 years and previously served on the Cedar Falls City Council from 2003 to 2011. He led the charge to help prevent the city from future flooding. He also served on the county’s planning and zoning commission from 2014 to 2019.

Kamyar Enshayan, a former Cedar Falls City Council member, is running for a seat on the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors.

Enshayan is retiring from the University of Northern Iowa this year after 30 years of service. He is currently the director of the university’s Center for Energy and Environmental Education. His work focuses on energy conservation, community food security and improving environmental health of children.

“I am a strong supporter of local decision making, local self-governance and simply wish to bring my experiences as a public servant to the essential work of improving our county,” he said in a news release.
