The financial closure of the Mphanda Nkuwa hydroelectric project in Tete province, in principle scheduled for later this year, is hostage to compliance with environmental procedures.
The information was released a few days ago in Washington, US, by the director of the project’s Implementation Office, Carlos Yum, in a meeting with the World Bank.
“We had the opportunity to discuss several issues with the World Bank, taking into account the goals we seek in relation to financial closure, and environmental issues were highlighted,” he said.
According to Yum, discussions addressing specific issues will continue in the coming days. The project comprises a hydroelectric plant and transport line.
