The Minister of Environment, Eang Sophalleth, welcomes and supports all investors who have considered the environmental impact and benefited the Cambodian people.
The remark was made during a courtesy call and discussion with Masaaki Uesugi, CEO of Tromso Co., Ltd. of Japan, on February 28, 2024, at the Ministry of Environment.
Masaaki Uesugi informed the Minister about the project of TROMSO Co., Ltd. two years ago, which was supported by the Japan Forestry Administration to produce firewood made from rice husks to replace firewood cut from the forest in order to reduce carbon emissions, which have an environmental impact and can contribute to economic activities and provide income to the people of Cambodia.
In response to this, the Minister of Environment supports the project as long as it helps the environment in Cambodia and around the world.
At the same time, Sophalleth also recommended encouraging companies to consider the implementation of projects that have given ownership to the people of Cambodia so that those projects are sustainable, and there are many other development projects that have promoted carbon neutrality, such as replanting trees in the sense of expanding greenery, and we can earn income from carbon neutrality, especially because the people will benefit from the project in line with the success of the project.
