Fresh off its acquisition, FurnitureFinders joins environmental support network

CHICAGO – Just a few weeks after it was acquired, used-office-furniture marketplace FurnitureFinders has been accepted as a member of 1% for the Planet, a global environmental network.

FurnitureFinders was acquired late January by Wurkwel Ventures, a private investment firm focused on the corporate office space. In the announcement, Wurkwel detailed its plans to make the company more environmentally friendly, with plans to introduce “planet first” best practices.

Mason Awtry, CEO of FurnitureFinders, said, “FurnitureFinders is proud to join in the commitment in support the 1% for the Planet movement and further demonstrate our focus on the larger mission to promote environmental consciousness and ensure positive impacts on climate change by enhancing the circular economy and sustainable practices in the office furniture industry.”

As a member, FurnitureFinders said it’s committed to giving 1% of its annual sales directly to 1% of the Planet’s environmental partners each year, donating directly to one or more approved environmental organizations and submitting donation receipts and revenue documentation for certification.

In January, Awtry commented on FurnitureFinders’ alignment with Wurkwel’s focus, which is a “larger mission to enhance the circular economy and sustainable practices in the office furniture industry.”
