A high-level meeting of the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the ministers of environmental protection of the countries of Central Asia was held in Ashgabat. The MIC reports this.
The main focus of the meeting was on climate change and the need to develop coordinated measures to adapt to it, reduce the risks of natural disasters, and increase awareness of these issues.
Some of the key aspects were named sustainable management of water resources, the development of water diplomacy, and the involvement of women in this process. In this regard, it was noted that a close partnership has been established between the OSCE and the states of Central Asia in these areas.
The subject of special attention was also water and agricultural issues, the transition to a “green” economy, waste management and the reduction of harmful emissions, improving the environmental culture of society, and in particular, youth, and other issues.
During the meeting, the priority positions of Turkmenistan on the development of regional cooperation were announced. As emphasized, environmental protection, ensuring environmental well-being and effective interaction with foreign partners are identified among the main vectors of the country’s state policy.
One of the priority vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is the development of fruitful partnerships with authoritative international structures. Long-term interaction with the OSCE has been effective, systematic and comprehensive.
